Calm amid storms – Samuel Dhinakaran
The LORD said to him, “Peace! Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.” (Judges 6:23)
Hello, my dear friend, we are going to receive the promise from God. This is the promise which will save us today. God is going to bless us according to Judges 6:23. The LORD said to him, “Peace! Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.” What an assuring word. This was spoken to Gideon, one of the judges of Israel. It happens during the time when the Israelites were being oppressed by the people of Midian. An angel of the Lord visited Gideon asking him to go in battle against Midian. When Gideon realized it was the angel of the Lord, it terrified him thinking he was going to die. However, the Lord assures him saying “Peace! Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.”
Every time, the Lord answers, this is what happens first. Peace comes first. Why? It is because in your difficult situation, you cannot think correctly and will become confused. You will only think ‘Oh! I am going to die or I am going to lose.’ You will think things of fear and your heart will only be afraid. You will have no time to think positive things. That is why, first before anything, God’s peace comes and fills when you reach out to him. The Bible says this is peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). It is a peace that the human brain cannot even conceive and is above human understanding and thoughts. It will calm all of your thoughts and then the answer from God, voice of God, starts speaking. You will start hearing his way and his solution. Yes! What a great thing this peace does, is it not? So we need to receive this peace first.
Today is Children’s Day. Even for me, this is the year my first child, Katelyn, was born. So it is a happy children’s day for me and my wife. You might be worrying about your children – their behavior has gone so bad, or they are not achieving at all. You might say I do not have money to take care of my children, or I cannot seem to get them married; so many worries concerning them. Do not worry my friend. God says “Peace” and then he speaks to you saying “Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.” So, do not be afraid. His comforting peace has come. You shall receive it right now.
Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Thank you for your heavenly peace. It is like no other. Thank you for your peace is overwhelming me right now. Miraculously, my heart is overwhelmed by your peace and love. Even though I am deeply afraid and distressed, your peace is removing the unnecessary thoughts out of my mind, pulling out every worrying thought. Peace of God is guarding my heart. I receive it and will be secure in the Lord. I pray for the wisdom of God to reveal the way forward my life. Help me to listen to it and walk in that way. Make me prosper Lord.
In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
