God your secure fortress – Shilpa Dhinakaran
“Whoever fears the LORD has a secure fortress, and for their children it will be a refuge.” (Proverbs 14:26)
Dear friend, today’s promise is from Proverbs 14:26 where it says, “Whoever fears the LORD has a secure fortress, and for their children it will be a refuge.” Yes, God will be a secure fortress around you that not only protects you but also protects your children. But to have God as our fortress we need to do certain things. What are they? We have to live a righteous life. We have to be so upright that the Lord will be proud of us and say, “I am so proud of you my child. You have lived righteously.”
We know the story of how the Lord protected Israel when there was a Passover that day. The Egyptians were killed but the Lord protected His righteous people. The Bible says in 2 Thessalonians 3:3, “But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.” Even now, the Covid situation is going out of control and we are so scared and frightened. But the Lord says, “I will protect you from the evil one.” Yes, the Lord will be a fortress around you.
You might be separated from your family and living in a different country in a different place and your children might be in a different place, but the Lord says, “I will protect your children also because you are righteous.” So let’s thank the Lord and receive the Lord’s protection over our families. In the Bible we see that David lived a righteous life. Though he sinned but because he repented God had mercy on him and promised him that David’s descendants to will always sit on the throne. In the same way, David’s son Solomon was the wisest and richest king to ever live. God fulfilled His promise even to the generations that followed. Similarly, God will protect your children for your sake and grant them peace.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus,
Thank You Lord for You are a shield of protection around us. Thank You for nothing can touch us. Thank You Lord for You are protecting even my children as You alone can protect them. Wherever I go, let Your presence be with me and fill me with Your peace.
In Your precious name, I pray. Amen.
