Humility takes you higher – Sis. Evangeline Paul Dhinakaran
“He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.” (Psalm 25:9)
Dear friend it is such a joy to share God’s word with you today. May the Lord bless you according to Psalm 25:9: “He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.” God leads the humble in the right way and teaches them his will. As you pray claiming today’s promise, the Lord will fill you with this humble spirit.
When you look at the life of Jeremiah, the prophet, you can see how humble he was to pray this prayer. He said in Jeremiah 10:24: “Discipline me, Lord, but only in due measure – not in your anger, or you will reduce me to nothing.” What a humble spirit he had! Yes, we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and we are worthy of getting punishment from the Lord. Therefore, everyday as soon as you get up you have to say a prayer like this; Lord please discipline me, oh Lord teach me and give me a humble spirit. The Lord disciplines the one he loves; he punishes every child he accepts. We have to make our prayer just like Job said: “Though he slays me, yet will I hope in him” (Job 13:15). This is the kind of spirit that the Lord expects in you my dear friend. God’s children are called to be humble before the Lord. The Bible explains how a servant of the Lord should be. In II Timothy 2:24, The Bible says, “the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Opponents must be gently instructed.” Patience is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. People may say that they are preaching, praying, and bringing miracles to the people; but then if they do not have this patience, no one will accept them; the Lord will also not be pleased with such people. Therefore humble yourself everyday and say ‘Lord even today I keep my ears open; speak to me Lord for I am listening.
The second thing the lord says is He will teach his people his will. For the Lord to teach, you have to pray this everyday: Lord speak to me for I am listening. We need to say the prayer just like little Samuel, the prophet, said “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” In this world, Satan is waiting to blind the eyes of the people and trying by all means to stop people from listening to the Lord. Hence, you have to be all the more prayerful and ask the Lord to show his will to you every second of the day. How is it possible for you to know the will of God? The answer is found in the scripture from I Corinthians 2:12 “What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.” Yes my friend, when the Lord gives you his humble spirit, you will be able to understand the Lord’s will and lead a fulfilled life.
Prayer:
My loving heavenly Father,
I pray for you to bless me with this humble spirit and an obedient heart. Help me Lord to know your will in every step of my life and fulfill it. Give me patience to deal with the difficult people I meet.
In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
