God’s Spirit within you – Dr. Paul Dhinakaran
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8)
My precious friend, God’s promise for you for today is from Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” God does not want us to be powerless. He wants us to have full measure of His power. That’s why He fills us with His Holy Spirit. The Spirit who was in Jesus, can be within you. That’s the greatest gift you can have from God. Jesus gave up His Spirit when He died on the cross. No devil could take over His Spirit. But He gave up His Spirit to the Almighty God. Why did He do that? He did so, so that God might give that Spirit to you.
Jesus produced the power of the Holy Spirit through His suffering on the cross. While Jesus was on the earth, the Holy Spirit was not given because it was in Him. In John 7:39 we read, “Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.” Jesus had to go through the suffering on the cross and pay the price through His blood so that the Holy Spirit might be produced through Him for you and I to have Him and have power. In Acts 10:38 we read that Jesus was filled with power through the Holy Spirit; “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.” That same power is given to you for God to be with you.
Today, you can have the same Lord Holy Spirit who was in Jesus. The Lord says, “Ask and you will receive.” When He comes into you, He gives you new tongues. He speaks through you through unknown tongues and stammering lips as in Isaiah 28:11, “Very well then, with foreign lips and strange tongues God will speak to this people“. When His Holy Spirit comes into you He gives you rest. All the pain, fears and worries go away. Then the power comes. When there is no fear, you will have all the power isn’t it? That’s what the Holy Spirit does according to Romans 8:26, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” The Holy Spirit prays through us in new tongues and removes our fears leading us in the will of God as in Romans 8:27. God will teach you what you speak in tongues as He speaks to you and great strength and rest will come into your spirit. Then you will be able to overcome all temptations through His saving power and glorifying power just as Jesus won His temptations in the wilderness.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
Fill me with Your Spirit whom you produced for me at the cross. I receive You within me. Stay with me. Give me rest and power to overcome temptations and live a powerful life that bears testimony to Your Name.
In Your name, I pray. Amen.
