Put on the armour of light – Samuel Dhinakaran
“I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.” (John 12:46)
Jesus says, ““I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness” (John 12:46). That is the heart of Jesus. No one who believes in Him should walk in darkness. He is the light and He wants you His child to experience, be filled and enjoy God’s light in heart, soul, mind and body. He wants you to display His light. Surely this promise will be fulfilled in your life today. You might be stuck in dark places today with some sort of darkness caused by fighting, addictions, lust etc and you might be chained up by these dark habits wondering, “Lord, how will I come out of these bad habits?”. God says to you that He will be a light to you and dispel your darkness.
Whenever I go through a time of fighting with my family members or someone, I feel hurt or even angry sometimes and I sit in a corner and meditate asking God, “Lord, what have I done? Why did I do this? What should I do? I feel so bad for having done this”, the Lord’s voice will comfort me saying, “I am the light. I am here for you. Just welcome me into your heart.” Immediately, I will pray welcoming the Lord to come inside me and ask Him to change me. I ask God to change my circumstance and to change my thinking. Then the light of Christ would fill me and it would be so sweet. My thoughts would change, I would understand my mistake and God’s peace would fill me which will enable me to make peace with the other person.
God’s heart will transform your dark situations and dark habits into something filled with the light of Christ. We read in Ecclesiastes 2:14, “the fool walks in the darkness,” and such people call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter (Isaiah 5:20). Do not walk like a fool. The Lord says to you, “The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So, put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armour of light” (Romans 13:12). Put on the light which is to put on Jesus. So, be clear to put away all the dark habits and to put on Jesus to enjoy goodness in your life and experience light filled days.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
Give me Your grace this very moment. Show me my dark nature that displeases You. Help me to come out of it. Rescue me from this darkness, from this prison. Come into my dark place and fill me with Your light. Fill my mind and spirit with Your light. Help me to always dwell in Your light and shine Your light before others. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.
