Strength amidst the storm – Dr. Paul Dhinakaran
“ Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6).
My precious friend, may God bless you today. May this day be a day of great blessing. Be strong and courageous for the Lord Your God goes with you today. God wants you to be strong and courageous. When will we be strong and courageous? The Lord says, “I know there are people who have risen against you my child and you are afraid of them. You are afraid of the storm and you are terrified. But if you terrified and afraid, I cannot be where there is fear.” You can be strong only if you do not fear. The Bible says in 1 John 4:18, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” God is love so you must trust that He loves you. If you do not trust in His love and allow the fear of the wickedness of men, fear of the threatening’s of men to come inside of you, God cannot be with you. You have to choose between them both: the word of God and the words of men.
The disciples of Jesus had Jesus with them but the fear in them caused them to cry out in the midst of the storm. They feared seeing the storm rage and the waters come into the boat. They felt like they were going to be capsized and they would die. They said, “Lord, don’t You care?” Jesus was asleep. He got up and He commanded the storm to be quiet and brought peace. But He asked, “Where is your faith?” In another instance Jesus also looked at another two disciples as they were also crying saying, “Jesus is dead. We saw Him die. The wicked people have prevailed. They have crucified Him and killed Him. What is our future?” But as He was walking with them, without allowing them to recognize Him,He had opened the Scriptures to them while they were on their way, He fed them with the strength they needed for their future. When Their hearts burnt as the food of God’s Word satisfied them.
Then they said, “It is all dark. Please come and stay with us”. He went in to stay with them. When Jesus broke the bread and fed them, their eyes opened and they saw Him. They said, “This is Jesus, the resurrected Lord, the living Jesus. He is alive and He is with us.” Then all their fears were gone. My friend, invite Jesus into your heart, into your situation. He will rise up and calm the storm. He says, “Don’t be afraid.” Say to the Lord, “Lord Jesus, my life is dark. Come into my life. You are the light of the world.” He, the Lord goes before you. Do not be afraid or be terrified, He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Prayer:
Father,
As I cry to You right now, enter into my heart, my Spirit, my family, my home and the situation of my life and provide Your light, Your direction, Your spiritual food and whatever I need. I humbly ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
