Free from sin! – Bro. D.G.S Dhinakaran
“therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” (John 8:36)
Dear ones, where is the need for you to be caught in the cords of sin? Whoever commits sin is a slave of sin (John 8:34). Satan who instigates us to do sin will enter into us without our knowledge. Yes, sin gradually enters into us. We see how sin ruined the life of Cain in the Bible. Before Cain sinned, God warned him saying, “If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it” (Genesis 4:7). Did Cain listen? No. If he had listened he would not have incurred punishment. But he did not listen. He closed his heart to the voice of God. He murdered his brother Abel. This is how sin influences us when we don’t listen to the Word of God. The Word of God is the only solution to be free from sin.
Once, I met an old friend of mine and with great joy I took him to an hotel. I bought coffee for him. With great regression, he tearfully said to me, “Dhinakaran, I am very grateful for your love; but I am not that same person whom you think I am; I am a drunkard now; I am deeply into horse racing; I have lot of debts due to this; I am unable to even provide one square meal for my family.” I asked him, “Why are you in this situation?” He replied, “I was a bit interested in horse racing and participated in it. But the end result is this miserable condition.” Sin destroyed what he had. Sin does the same to us. It destroys lives. That is why the Psalmist writes, “How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word” (Psalm 119:9).
Dear ones, Yes! Everything starts with a dot. But later, it will lead you to miserable conditions! Jesus is compassionate towards such people too. What sort of a person are you? Just think awhile. Jesus Christ bore our sins upon His body for it is written in 1 Peter 2:24 that, “He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree.” So, pray at the Lord’s feet saying, “Lord! I am living in sin; I am dead in sin; touch even me and save me.” The Bible says in John 8:36, “therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” There are no bad habits or behaviours from which He cannot deliver you. Whatever be the bad habit that you have been indulging in, fall prostrate at His feet now and say, “I will not leave You unless You deliver me from this drinking habit.” Then, He will have compassion on you and give you His power to overcome sin. What is the reason? Jesus Christ patiently bore all our sins on the cross. So you can rely on what Jesus has done for you and receive power to be free and walk according to God’s Word.
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving me Your Word to help me to take right decisions. Speak to me like how you have spoken to Your children in the past and guide me with Your voice. Help me to stay away from wrong things. Guard my ways. Thank You for sacrificing Lord Jesus in my place and forgiving my sins. Give me grace and power to please You always in all things.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
