Basic truth! – Samuel Dhinakaran
“Blessed is the one … whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night”. (Psalm 1:1,2)
God has blessed me with His love and with the love of my family members, friends and well wishers. It is such a blessing to serve God and serve people. Today is my birthday. The love that all of you shower on me makes me glad. I am so blessed. God has also blessed me with a little baby girl last month. I praise God for His faithfulness to each of us even on this blessed day. I pray for all of you to be blessed by God just like how He is blessing us. I want to share the truth that your life should be founded upon. God wants you to learn some basics. It is about strengthening your relationship with God through Bible reading.
It is a basic thing in which God wants you to be strongly founded upon. God wants you to practice getting up in the morning and read His Word. I get up early in the morning so that I have no distractions from friends and family and give first priority to God every day. I do not see the Facebook notifications, WhatsApp messages, no Instagram or no messages. Before tasting the goodness in the Word of God, I used to read it out of compulsion as my parents insisted me to read the Bible. I also used to sleep while reading the Bible. I did not know why I should read the Bible. I used to get carried away by the thoughts of my work that was pending for the day. Sometimes, the smell of food would make me distracted too. All kinds of things used to cloud my mind. Finally, I close the Bible and carry on with other works. But God has taught me how to stay away from distractions. That is why, firstly I ask the Holy Spirit to fill me.
The Bible is just a book but it is the Holy book and the words of the book have life because of the Holy Spirit who has written it. Until God speaks to you through His Holy Spirit you cannot get anything out of just reading the Bible. The Bible says, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful” (Joshua 1:8). So I first ask the Holy Spirit to fill me before I read my Bible. I turn on some worship songs and sing to it so that I receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit. i don’t start reading the Bible until God fills me. When I pray, sometimes God reveals to me the mistakes I have done and I ask His forgiveness and reconcile with Him. After that God fills me with His Spirit and after which when I read the Bible God speaks to me opening my eyes to His promise or to the Word that I need to practice for that day or prophetically reveal the wisdom I need for the day. “The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life” (John 6:63). God wants you to be strengthened in this basic truth of reading and meditating on the Word of God. When you do this, God’s blessings will pour on you and whatever you do will prosper. Psalm 1:1,2 says, “Blessed is the one … whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night”. Cling on to God’s word and be blessed!
Prayer:
Loving Lord!
Thank You for Your Word which is the Bible. Help me to be in a right relationship with you by reading Your Word every day. Give me a thirst for Your Word. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to understand the scriptures. Speak to me every day. Let me be like a tree planted by the river which yields its fruit in season and let everything I do prosper.
In Your loving name I pray, Lord Jesus, Amen.
