Loved and not lonely! – Samuel Dhinakaran
“God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.” (Psalms 68:6)
My friends, we feel lonely sometimes. Even when people are around us we feel all alone at times. There is emptiness in our hearts that cannot be filled by people. That is why we need the presence of God with us all the time. God’s presence with us is not based on feelings. You cannot expect to feel goose bumps on your body to know God is with you all the time. Your feeling is not the truth. God’s Word is the truth and in His Word God says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10). Will you choose to trust God’s Word to you this day and not get drowned in your loneliness?
Even during these lockdown days, people are struggling with loneliness. Some of them have been trapped in their houses all alone. Others go through loneliness because they don’t have a chance to be with their friends or with people they love. Even during these times, the unchanging truth and the only person who promises to stick to us is God. The Bible clearly says that God does not change like shifting shadows. Shadows change their position as the sun’s position changes. But God is not like that. The God who gave you all your blessings at the highest point in your life is still the same with His unchanging presence in your lowest point of life too. He follows you wherever you go as He is your Good Shepherd. You did not go in search of Him. Remember that He came behind and He will always be with you wherever you go.
God says, “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me” (Isaiah 49:16). He has tattooed you on the palm of His hands. He is always watchful of you. He knows when you sit and when you rise: He even knows your thoughts (Psalm 139:2). This very moment when you feel lonely, your thoughts are being read by God and He wants to tell you that He loves you. The Bible says, “God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land” (Psalms 68:6). May be you are feeling chained like a prisoner, abandoned by people but God promises to settle you with love on all sides. But it is your choice to choose how you want to react to unloving situations. You can hold on to God’s truth or choose to act out in anger. If you rebel, God says you will experience the heat of rejection from God. When we wait for God, He will give us a godly family, a godly work atmosphere and godly friends with whom we can enjoy sweet relationship. God will surround you with songs of joy. Hope for better days!
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father,
Thank you for speaking to me and letting me know that I am not alone. Thank you for your promise that you are watching over me all day long. My walls are ever before you so I choose to hold on to this truth, become cheerful and cast out the feeling of loneliness. Help me to show love to people who go through loneliness like me. Surround me too with loving people and godly relationships.
In Jesus Name I pray,
Amen.
