You will be filled! – Dr. Paul Dhinakaran
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.” (Luke 4:18)
To serve God is indeed a privilege. To serve Him you just need a pinch of enthusiasm mixed with faithfulness. When God sees this mixture, He will make you worthy of his calling. The Bible says in Romans 11:29 that God’s gifts and call are irrevocable. What a blessing that is. All we need from God is know His calling concerning us. Not all are called to be preachers but whatever God calls us to do we have to do it enthusiastically. If you want to preach God will make you to do it and establish your ways. The desire God puts in your heart is His call on your life. For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfil his good purpose (Philippians 2:13). When you ask God to fulfil His purpose for you, He will surely do it. The Psalmist could boldly say, “the Lord will fulfil his purpose for me” (Psalm 138:8). We should also believe and hold on to this verse that God will do what He pleases in our life and nothing will ever go wrong. We should be hopeful that God will prepare us for His purpose.
Some time ago, T.L. Osborn, a world renowned evangelist said to me, “When me and my wife went to Thailand to preach, we stayed in the house of a wealthy lady. While we were there, a young man came and spoke to her. He was not a very educated man. He said, ‘Madam during the days when such great servants of God stay in your home, I will do all your house work. But please allow me only one privilege. You must allow me to sleep under the room of the servants of God in your home.’ He would work that entire day and at night he would spend the whole night praying, ‘Oh Lord, send that anointing which is upon your servants on me too, have mercy on me.’ Days passed by and God saw the faith of the boy. God anointed him and today he is a mighty evangelist in Thailand.”
My friend, God looks at you when you honour His servants. Like Elisha, who received the anointing from his master, you too will receive the anointing from the servants of God as you eagerly pray for it. He will look at your eagerness and count you worthy of His calling. We should have a thirst to be filled by God the way we see God fills others. There is no favouritism with God. Anybody can receive His favour and anointing. Like David we should be able to say, “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God” (Psalm 42:1). When God sees such thirst in our hearts He will fill us so that we overflow with His Spirit. God also says, “If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke 11:13). So all we need to do is ask God for His gifts and receive them to use them for His purpose.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
Thank You for speaking to me through Your word. Give me also, the eagerness in my heart to receive Your anointing. Let Your Holy Spirit encircle me and fill me to do Your work. Use me as Your vessel to carry Your word. Bless me with the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that I will serve You mightily. Let me also be led by Your Spirit so that I fulfil Your will.
This I ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.
