In God’s powerful hand! – Shilpa Dhinakaran
“My hand will sustain him; surely my arm will strengthen him” (Psalm 89:21).
Have you seen people who do workouts? They usually do workouts to gain muscle strength. To show how much strength they have gained they usually show their muscle arm. Yes, arm denotes strength. Only if you have strength you can lift things and do your daily chores easily. People who do weight lifting can lift huge weights through the strength of their hands. If mere people have so much strength can you imagine the strength of God’s hand? The Bible says, “The strong right arm of the LORD is raised in triumph. The strong right arm of the LORD has done glorious things!” (Psalm 118:16). God’s hand always brings victory. It is a sign of triumph. It does glorious things and of course only good things. Have you heard of the song ‘He’s got the whole world in His hands’? That is so true of God’s power.
My grandmother who is 85 years old can walk by herself. Yet when somebody walks next to her she tends to hold on to their hand for safety and confidence. She feels secure when she walks holding on to someone. She is freed from her fears if she will fall when she gets the support of some person. That is how our hand can ensure strength to others. Even children feel safe in the hands of their parents. The moment you handover babies to strangers they start crying because they can sense the difference in the touch. The arm of their parents gives them comfort and assurance and it gives them joy when they are being carried. They forget themselves and enjoy being taken over to many places sitting on their hands. They literally give their cares to their parents when they climb onto them. Our Heavenly Father too carries the whole world especially each one of us in his hands.
Yes, God promises to you today that His hand will sustain you and His arm arrayed with strength will strengthen you. Do you need any other source of strength other than this! You have God’s power within you. You can boldly say, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). God’s grace will be sufficient for you in your weaknesses and His strength will equip you to accomplish whatever you feel is difficult. According to Isaiah 49:16, God says, “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.” He has you in His hand all the time. He is watching over you all the time without removing His gaze from you even for a moment. That is the reason we are not consumed. He is always with us to hold us by our hand and help us. He says, “I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10). His hand is always ready to serve you. Will you serve Him with your hands depending on His strength? Surely you will accomplish great things for God.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
Thank You for Your promise that Your hand will sustain me. Lord, thank You for engraving me in Your hands and watching over me all the time. Thank You for Your promise that You will strengthen me and help me to accomplish Your will concerning me. Give me grace to do great exploits for you. Let my hands be strong to work for You always. This I ask in Your sweet name,
Amen.
