Almighty is your helper! – Sis. Stella Dhinakaran
“I called on the LORD in distress; The LORD answered me and set me in a broad place.” (Psalm 118:5)
There was a widow in the place called Zarephath. She had a son and they were languishing in poverty because of sever famine. That day as she was gathering a couple of sticks to prepare food with the very little dough left for her and her son, in that situation, prophet Elijah was sent by God to her. She was very poor and she did not know from where her next meal would come. Yet the Lord sends her a guest. Is it not natural for us women to face such situations often? God tests us in difficult situations to reward us for our submission. The widow explained to the prophet Elijah of her situation and when he insisted she obeyed. Sometimes we too might have many doubts when God asks us to do something. May be it makes us uncomfortable or confused but we should look to the Word of God for direction. The widow would have thought there is no way we are going to live after this last meal so let me try obeying the man of God and see what God does and she chose to step out in faith out of her comfort zone.
Several years back, I was preparing less quality of food, sufficient for our small family. My sister was also with me at that time. Suddenly, unexpected guests arrived and I did not know what to do. However I kept praying to God and started serving food to them. What a wonder! That day I realized that it is hundred percent true that God never forsakes those who trust Him. I took remains even after everybody had the food. My sister too shared her anxiety and told me that she was wondering how I would manage the situation. Yes, the Lord did that. This is a simple incident but I never forget the miracle that the Lord did that day. Yes! the love of God is able to lead the destitute, the widows and the mothers who shed tears, by their hands. So, let us not be frustrated but look up to the Lord, who never fails in His duty and be blessed!
The God who multiplied the five loaves and two fish to feed the five thousand is still living and the Word of God says that He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He changes not. May be your circumstances can change and you might need to hope for a miracle. God will certainly provide for you and make your faith strong. It is in these trying moments that God builds our faith. The Bible says, “finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power” (Ephesians 6:10). We should put our hope on God’s omnipotence. He is mighty in power and there is nothing He cannot do. What disturbs your mind today? Are you surrounded by worries? I encourage you to fix your mind blindly on the truth that God is powerful to perfect everything that concerns you. Not only will peace fill your heart but you will also witness a miracle from God very soon. I will be waiting to hear a testimony from you!
Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus,
You are the same yesterday, today and forever. You will multiply the little I have and make it surplus to meet all my needs more than I can imagine. I believe you are omnipotent. You will satisfy me with abundant blessings. You alone can build my faith through Your miraculous provision and I ask You to make me rooted in faith. I need You and Your Presence more than anything in life. Help me to obey Your Word and see Your hand guiding me in every step.
In Your matchless name I pray,
Amen.
