You are separated by Christ! – Dr. Paul Dhinakaran

“…For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?” (2 Corinthians 6:14)
Righteousness means “made righteous by Christ”. The primary point in referring this verse is not to be joined with those who are without faith and to distance ourselves from ungodly ways. Apostle Paul warns the Corinthian church to get rid of their ways for the outcome is the increasing disassociation from the Lord and the dangers in the behaviour on our spiritual growth. Many of us may be called by the Lord, but we tend to go astray into the world.

Similarly Solomon’s birth was foretold to David by God. David had many children, but Solomon was unique among them all. The Lord had endowed him with matchless wisdom. He surpassed everyone and all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom. All the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart. But as days went by, he presumptuously married many foreign women ‘other than the Israelites’, which was against the command of the Lord. He ‘clung to them in love’ and they turned his heart towards other gods. Consequently, his heart was not loyal to the Lord his God as was the heart of his father David. He did evil in the sight of the Lord. He started going after other gods, failing to love God with all his heart. He completely despised the warning of God and lost the glory of God in his life.

My friend, like Solomon, are you being carried away by your worldly friends in college/work place? If your friend takes the wrong path, are you following the same path with them for fun? You must be careful of those who surround you. Do not be carried away by their doings. you can never prevent the evil thoughts and sinful lusts that encircle you in this world. But you can prevent them from taking root into your life by not allowing them to get into your mind. This is possible only when you are filled with the Holy Spirit. He will help you to resist the power of the devil and the sin that hinders you, and to move forward victoriously. Today ask Him to fill you with His mighty Holy Spirit. When He is with you, you will be protected wherever you go. As the Bible says, you cannot carry Jesus Christ and the pleasure of this world together. Choose God and be blessed.

Prayer:
“Loving Lord,

Thank you that I am Your child and I’ve been made a new creation in You. Help me to choose my friends wisely. Direct me in all my ways according to Your will. I believe that I cannot be yoked with non-believers. Lord, I ask for Your wisdom to guide me and guard me from all temptations. Lord, let Your word be a light to my path. Lead me in righteousness.
