Prayers of the upright! – Sis. Stella Dhinakaran
“But the prayer of the upright is His delight.” (Proverbs 15:8)
“Prayer” is pouring out of the heart by the devotees of God Almighty in His presence. Those who know the greatness and value of prayers will never ever be indifferent to prayer. Moses was an ordinary man. But, when he was called by God for His special mission, he fasted and prayed in His presence for forty days and nights without food and sleep, says the Bible (Exodus 34:28). He is the only man to whom God spoke face to face (Exodus 33:11). He remained in the presence of God, praying and fasting for forty days and this made him see God face to face! We too can remain in His holy presence and talk to Him and receive His blessings. Think and see how far your life is pleasing in His sight and strengthen your prayer life accordingly.
An eight year old boy lost his mother and was brought up by his stepmother. When she started ill treating him, he became desperate and ran to his pastor weeping and told him all about his miserable life. The pastor lovingly took him to his prayer room and taught him how to pray and pour out his heart to God. The disturbed boy was now filled by the perfect peace of God. Thereafter, he made it a point to go to a lonely and calm place and to pray to God. Slowly, all his worries and burdens disappeared from his heart. His face became bright and shining. God gave him the grace to love his stepmother also. Further, the grace of God made the stepmother afraid of him because of the changes she saw in this small boy. Now, both of them were filled by the love of God. Instead of hating each other, they loved one another and a divine peace filled them. It is the prayer of this little boy that made their lives a happy and a good witness.
Prayer can make the impossible happen as it is asking God to do what is humanly impossible. God says “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7). There is nothing that God cannot change. God can turn your bitter circumstances into blessed ones. All you need to do is pray with an upright heart. Ask God to make you right before Him and then pour out your requests. God surely answers the prayers of an upright person (Proverbs 15:8).
Prayer:
Loving heavenly Father!
Now, I know how blessed and happy it is to talk with You and to abide in You. From today onward, help me to lead a life that is delightful in Your sight and receive Your divine grace. Hold my hands and lead me in Your divine ways. Change my heart and change my situation. Let me bring You praise through my sincere prayer life.
In Jesus name I pray,
Amen!
