Your sufficiency is from God – Sis. Evangeline Paul Dhinakaran
Dear friend, today we have a beautiful verse to meditate upon. David says in Psalm 16:5, “The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and my cup.” He is all I need. You support my lot. It’s as though David is saying, “I’m choosing You, Lord, as the highest priority in all things. You are my supreme. You are my cup of blessing.” David was so content with what God gave him. When you say “God is my portion,” then God will satisfy you with everything. That’s what David confidently declared again in Psalm 23:5, “You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.” When your cup overflows, you’ll be saying, “Lord, it’s enough, enough, enough. You have blessed me so much.”
My granddaughter, Katelyn Anna Dhinakaran, used to sing a beautiful song: “It’s bubbling, it’s bubbling, it’s bubbling in my soul. I am singing and dancing since Jesus made me whole.” She would sing it loudly, and when she did, the whole house would be reverberating! With so much joy, she would sing. That’s what happens when our cups are full of God.
In Psalm 16:9, David continues with great confidence: “Therefore, my heart is glad. My glory, that is, my innermost self rejoices. My body too will dwell confidently in safety.” Our whole body rejoices. Even our physical body is filled with God’s blessing. There will be no sickness. Our hearts rejoice. Yes, God wants our cup to be filled with His joy always. We should keep on saying, “Lord, You are my portion. You are my lot.” And when we feel empty, we can say, “Lord, my cup is empty. Fill me, Lord. Fill me with Yourself.” Nothing of the world should be seen in our cup. And God will gladly fill your cup with His joy. The Bible says, “In His presence, there is fullness of joy.”
When Jesus attended the wedding at Cana, His mother came to Him and said, “There is no more wine here.” So Jesus called the servants and told them to fill the jars, six large, empty jars to the brim. When the servants obeyed and filled them with water, the water was turned into sweet wine. That’s what we are going to do today. We are going to ask God to fill our cups with Himself. Paul said in Ephesians 5:18, “Be filled with the Spirit.” That is, give your cup to God.
May the Lord fill you with His presence, with His strength, with His wisdom, and with His direction. Yes, may the Lord satisfy you with His goodness. In Psalm 16:7, David says, “Indeed, my heart, my mind, instructs me in the night.” Even in the night, he received guidance from God. That’s how the Lord filled his cup. The Lord’s storehouse will never dry out. He will keep on filling your cup all 24 hours of the day. So submit yourself to God. Ask Him to control your thoughts, your emotions, your body, and your actions. Say to Him, “Lord, I’m not at all satisfied with all my past achievements. Fill me with Yourself, Lord.” As the Bible says in II Corinthians 3:5, “Our sufficiency is from God.” We cannot be satisfied with our own ability. Our sufficiency comes only from Him. Now, dear friend, pray that you will be filled with the abundance of God.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, You are my portion, my inheritance, my cup. Fill me with Yourself. Nothing of the world, only You. Let my heart rejoice in Your presence and never grow weary. Pour Your Spirit into me until my cup overflows. Satisfy me with Your wisdom, strength, and goodness. Guide my thoughts, emotions, and every step I take. Let my body dwell in safety and my soul rest in Your joy. Anoint me afresh, day and night, with Your presence. My sufficiency comes from You alone, Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
