Defeat your enemies – Dr. Paul Dhinakaran
“God shall bless us, and all the ends of the earth shall fear Him.” (Psalm 67:7)
My precious friend, today’s promise is found in Psalm 67:7. “God shall bless us, and all the ends of the earth shall fear Him.” When God blesses His children, all the people of the earth tremble before them and fear the Lord. The perfect example of this can be seen in the life of Isaac. You can read about it in Genesis 26. When there was famine, God commanded Isaac not to go to Egypt but stay in the land of Gerar. God promised to be with Isaac, bless him, and give him and his descendants the land of the Philistines. That region was ruled by king Abimelek. After Isaac fixed his tent along with his family, shepherds, and flock, God told him to start sowing in the land. “Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the LORD blessed him.” (Genesis 26:12). Isaac was so joyful and enjoyed his family life along with his wife, and the king of the land saw that.
Isaac and his people dug wells when it was a moment of famine everywhere. God blessed Isaac due to his obedience, and when Isaac dug wells, water gushed forth. The servants of king Abimelek came and quarreled with him and drove him away. Isaac went away and dug another well in a different place and water came rushing immediately. Once again, the servants of Abimelek quarreled and chased him away. Isaac never fought with them but went further away and dug a well. Again water came gushing forth, but nobody quarreled this time and Isaac name the place Rehoboth. Then Isaac pitched his tent in Beersheba and flourished. Now, king Abimelek came running to Isaac along with his friend and commander in chief and said “We saw clearly that the Lord was with you; make a treaty with us that you will do us no harm.”
My friend, you are blessed when Jesus is in your heart and you obey and do everything according to his word. The powers of the world may become jealous of you and come to destroy you because you follow God. Nonetheless, go on obeying the Lord and He will keep on blessing you. When you are blessed by the Lord, your enemies will tremble before you and come to make a treaty with you. May God give you this grace!
Prayer:
My loving heavenly Father,
thank you for today’s promise word. Lord, give me the grace to obey you always and in everything even though I may face opposition. Thank you Lord for you are going to bless me to bring glory to your name.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
