Overcome through Christ – Samuel Dhinakaran
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33).
My friend, God has a wonderful promise for you today. It is from John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Lord Jesus clearly says in this verse that everyone faces troubles. All of us go through different types of troubles. It is through them that we rise up in life by conquering our troubles. Many of them make their own way to come out of these troubles and they die down not being able to overcome them. Many are those who try to come out on their own but we have a choice today whether to leave the fight in the hands of God or battle in our own strength or fight in our own strength.
The notion of any trouble is to destroy us and bury us in the grave. Yet there is someone who has defeated that and risen out of the grave and that is our Lord Jesus Christ. He has risen up from death and has destroyed the troubles of the world. Today let us ask the Lord to come into our lives for then we will also overcome the troubles of our lives. Yes, your heart will be protected with the peace of God, from any pain or sting that the trouble brings. 1 Corinthians 15:55 says, “”Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” Yes, God will protect us from the troubles that cause us pain as sharp as a sting
God will make us rise up with the resurrection power of Christ in our troubled situation. Today let us claim this power over our situation no matter how lifeless it looks. There is an anecdote of what a father did for his son. Once when a father and his son were travelling in a car a bee came inside the car. The little boy was very scared and he was shouting trying to get away from it. The father kept his hand still and the bee stung the father’s hand. The bee’s sting plunged into the father’s skin and it pained him but the father was happy because the bee cannot sting his son anymore. It had lost its power. Even so did our Father Jesus Christ took the sting of our troubles on Himself and so we need not fear them anymore. We are more than conquerors through Him who has loved us (Romans 8:37).
Prayer:
Lord Jesus,
You have overcome the world and I thank You Lord. You have taken the sting upon You and delivered me from the fears of this world. Give me strength in my heart. Thank You for You will fight my battles. Let Your resurrection power make me overcome my troubles. Help me to see Your miracles prevail in my life.
In Your Name I pray, Amen.
