Obey your parents – Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

“Now, my son, the LORD be with you, and may you have success and build the house of the LORD your God, as he said you would.” (1 Chronicles 22:11).
My precious friend, I am so happy to greet you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. We find today’s promise in 1 Chronicles 22:11, “Now, my son, the LORD be with you, and may you have success and build the house of the LORD your God, as he said you would.” This is a commandment given by a father to a son. David tells Solomon to build the temple of God. God had ordered only Solomon to build the temple of God. David had so much thirst to build the temple but the Lord had said that he should not build it as he had shed much blood and wanted Solomon to build the temple. When Solomon heard his father’s command, he obeyed it. This is how parents and children should have oneness of mind, love and understanding.

But today, this is not how it is in the world. Children are not at all honouring their parents. They say, “Oh you don’t know anything. Be quiet. I don’t care about you. I want to go in my own way.” This is the way youngsters are talking. My dear one, obey your parent. Talk to the Lord, ask Him what He wants you to do and please Him. Have the mind of God. Obey God’s command, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life on the earth” (Ephesians 6:1-3). This is what God wants you to do.

Yes, don’t go in your own way. Obey your parents. Let them decide everything for you and you will be a blessing to many people. Check your life even today. Are you obeying your parents and honouring them? Are you seeking the Lord with all your heart and humble before the Lord obeying His first command to honour your parents? God promises you a long life if you obey your parents. Be like Solomon who obeyed his father and built the temple of God for the glory of God. When you obey like him, God will be with you in whatever you do, you will do great things and you will be a success. Bible also says that God will give wisdom and understanding to fulfil the will of God. Today, God will give the grace to have oneness of mind and understanding between parents and children. You will see days of success in your life.

Prayer:
Loving Father,

Draw me to Your fold and let there be understanding between my family. Give us oneness of mind. Give me wisdom and guide me in Your way. Let me always obey Your command and walk by it. Let me see success and have a long life on earth.
