Listen to the Lord – Shilpa Dhinakaran
“Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.” (Proverbs 8:34)
Dear friend, it is very essential and important for us to listen to God’s Word everyday. It is very important to sit at His feet, read His Word and wait for Him to speak to us. Every morning when we wait on Him, He pours His blessing on us. According to God’s Word in Proverbs 8:34, blessed are those who listen to His Word. The Lord will surely bless everyone who comes to Him and to hear from Him. We should therefore make it a practice to wake up early in the morning and listen to God’s voice.
I know a girl who used to see visions from her childhood. She was telling of how the Bible turned into Jesus Christ Himself once in her vision. That’s when I realised how important the Word of God is. We read about the Word of God in Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” When we ask God to speak to us as we meditate on the scriptures the Lord will guide us and show us the path we need to walk on by being a light to us. He will lead you and direct you in each step of the way as you ask Him to speak to you. You might be very confused thinking what to do and which way to turn but when you turn to God, He will show you the way you should take.
In the Bible, we see how God commends Mary when she sat at His feet to listen to Him. Martha and Mary were sisters. One day when Jesus had gone to their house, Mary ran and sat at the feet of the Lord to heed to His Word. Martha was busy in the kitchen taking care of the household chores. We might feel that Martha did the right thing but Jesus clearly says, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things. But only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, and it will not be taken away from her.” Jesus meant to say if only you sit at my feet you would have all your worries taken away. Jesus wants us not to care about anything more than we care about our relationship with Him and what pleases Him for only what we do for the Lord will stand against time. So, are you ready to be renewed in your thirst to read God’s Word? You will surely be blessed.
Prayer:
Loving Jesus,
I thank You for this promise verse Father. Help me to sit at your feet and listen to Your Word each day. Remove all anxiety. Let Your words strengthen my heart and show me the way I should go. Lead me according to Your will. Show me the right direction.
In Your sweet Name I pray, Amen.
