“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope.” (Psalm 130:5)
We read in the Bible about Ruth, who clung to her motherin-law when she lost her husband, instead of going back to her parents. She sought the living God of Naomi saying, “Your God is my God.” When she could have started a new life back at her parents’ place, Ruth chose to stay with her mother-in-law and waited patiently for the Lord to work in her. What happened? The blessings of Boaz came on Ruth. He blessed her saying, “May the Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given to you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.” Then Boaz married her and once again her broken family life was built and what a great blessing it is that her name is recorded in the genealogy of our Lord Jesus Christ! What a blessed life!
As we all know, this is a microwave generation – people only want instant things, instant coffee, fast food etc. In today’s world, everything has to be fast and so we expect God also to be fast. But my beloved friend, He is a God of patience. He does the right things at the right time. We saw how Ruth patiently received her blessings. Today, I urge you to wait on the Lord patiently. He will work wonders in your life. He will do things beyond what you can imagine. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us (Ephesians 3:20). He has made everything beautiful in its time (Ecclesiastes 3:11). God has set a time for everything. At the right time when He gives us the blessing it will be just the right thing we need.
In the New Testament too we see what Jesus did at Cana. When He was at the wedding they ran out of wine. So when Jesus’ mother Mary asked Jesus to do the needful Jesus says,“My time hasn’t come.” But in His time, He turns the water to wine and the people who drank the wine were amazed that the bridegroom had served the best wine at the last. What looked like a lack turned into a testimony. This is how God does the right thing at the right time. We also see how the Lord did a miracle raising Lazarus after four days of his burial. When everyone thought it is too late, Jesus showed the time is right for God’s name to be glorified. Sometimes God delays the blessing so that when we receive it, every eye will know that it from the Lord alone. Your miracle is on the way. Hold on to God.
Prayer:
Lord God,
You are a God of patience who does things at the right time. Lord, I pray for this patience to abide in me too. Like Ruth and the others who patiently waited to receive Your blessing let me too wait on You. I believe that at the right time, You will do the very best for me, Amen.
