God Dwells in Our Midst! – Samuel Dhinakaran
“Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst, says the LORD.” (Zechariah 2:10)
Beloved, the Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth surely can create a dwelling place for him to stay. He is the almighty who created this beautiful universe. The Bible says “For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.” (Psalms 33:9). But he desires to live in our heart. In Luke 9:58,” Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” Through this verse, we can understand the longing of the Lord. He is looking for a place to dwell. We should thank the Lord because he dwells in the Church of God. Jesus loves you. Even today, you have given your heart for the Lord to dwell. The Bible says, “we are the temple of the living God” (2 Corinthians 6:16). God no longer dwells in buildings; His buildings are you and me.
There was a little girl. One day she was looking at a picture that was hanging in the house. It was the picture of Jesus Christ, hanging on the cross. The little girl was looking at that picture. Her mother was watching her. After a few seconds, she ran inside her room and took her doll house and kept it at the bottom of the picture. She used to decorate that doll house every day that was her favourite hobby. Even though playing with the doll house was favourite to her, she brought it to Jesus, who was hanging on the cross. Her mother asked her, Mary, why are you keeping it under the picture? Are you not interested in playing with your favourite toy? She replied, when I see Jesus hanging on the cross, with his arm stretched, he tells us something. He is so lonely, So I gave my dollhouse for Him to stay. Her mother was surprised. This little thing would have delighted the heart of Lord Jesus Christ.
God’s presence is not in a physical temple but with his holy people. When Jesus was on earth, he declared that his body was the temple where God was present. Today He is longing to come into your heart. He is looking for a loving heart. Jesus is knocking your heart. He says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20). Open your heart to be the Son of God. Jesus said, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them” (John 14:23). Yes, living according to the Lord’s teaching is how we can have God dwell in us. We have to obey Him and if we do so we will have the Lord Almighty with us (Psalm 46:7,11). God Bless you.
Prayer:
Loving heavenly Father,
I long for you. I open my heart to you. You come and dwell in my heart. Let my heart be a living temple. Give me grace to live according to Your word and obey all that You say. Let your will be done in my life. Let me never grieve Your Holy Spirit in me. Help me to please You through my life. Control me. Take care of me and my family under your mighty wings. I ask in Jesus name, Amen.
