Receive wisdom! – Dr. Paul Dhinakaran
“The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.” (Proverbs 21:20)
God gives wisdom that is far exceeding the wisdom of the world. All the inventions of the past are examples of God’s wisdom working in people. The God who made Noah to build an ark is the reason for the great ships that have been built now based on wisdom taught to Noah by God. God teaches people about the things they need to do to carry out their inventions. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding (Proverbs 2:6). We too need wisdom to excel in our job, studies and other areas of life. The only way to find wisdom is by asking God. He says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” (James 1:5). God does not show partiality rather gives wisdom generously to everyone who asks. The wisdom God gives will make us stand out from others.
Once in the land of Egypt, there prevailed seven years of abundance followed by seven years of severe famine making one forget the plentiful harvest earlier. This severe famine destroyed the land. Owing to extreme drought, the abundance which was present earlier vanished. However, in the land of Egypt, during the times of severe famine, God stood by a man named Joseph who was filled of wisdom and prudence, which he received through the gift of prophecy. Indeed, through the power of prophecy and revelations, God endowed him with the knowledge of increasing the production of food, storage of produce, distribution to the world and ways to prosper the nation. Through this revelation, Joseph became the Governor and the entire land of Egypt prospered under him. These were the consequence of the prophecy and revelation given to one man, Joseph.
My friend, truly, God’s power penetrated the world through one divine revelation received by this one man. The world became aware of the God of gods, whom Joseph worshipped. The land of Egypt overflowed with worldly as well as spiritual blessings. Likewise when God gives one revelation and when you receive it filled with His Spirit, you will save the entire world. God will use you to save the people of your locality and your city when you surrender yourself to Him. For the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere (James 3:17). God will teach us how to relate to people so that we can win their favour and through us God can do mighty things in their life. Bible also says, “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom” (James 3:13). So it is through our life that we can prove that we are wise. Ask God to live wisely and do great things for Him.
Prayer:
Loving Father,
Fill me with Your Spirit and anointing like Joseph who saved the nation. Mould me and use me for the glory of Your name. I give whatever knowledge I possess into Your hands. Guide me and reveal Your plans for me. Bless me with wisdom and let me excel in all my endeavours bringing You glory.
This I ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.
