You are God’s temple! – Sis. Evangeline Paul Dhinakaran
“ The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord is on his heavenly throne.” (Psalm 11:4).
The Lord is always present in His holy temple. Do you know what this holy temple is? It is our body. We are His holy temple. God loves to dwell within us. Through Jesus, God came and dwelt with us. He is Emmanuel, God with us. Through the Holy Spirit, now God has come to dwell within us. He accepts us as His holy temple. So now God is always present within us. What happens when God dwells within us? He reads our thoughts and hears our cries. He listens to the prayers we do in our hearts and He answers us. That is why the Psalmist says, “In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.” (Psalm 18:6). When we cry out in distress He hears us. He is not distant from us rather He is nearer to us than our own thoughts. He comes to our rescue when we need Him.
According to the verse, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1), God is very present with us to help us. He is our refuge and strength. We need not fear harm. He will carry us. “For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, that you do not strike your foot against a stone” (Psalm 91:11,12). God is always watchful of us. The LORD watches over you, the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm, he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore (Psalm 121:5-8). Yes, because the Lord is within us we are always known by the Lord and we will always be protected by the Lord.
God listens to all that we speak. “Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard” (Malachi 3:16). That is why we should be careful about what we speak and what we do. Jesus said, ” For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matthew 12:37). So we need to fear God and speak the right words. We need to be sure that the Holy Spirit whom God has deposited within us is not grieved by our words and deeds. The Bible says, ” Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building up the one in need and bringing grace to those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.” (Ephesians 4:29-31). If we are godly in our words and deeds God will rejoice over us with singing and we will be truly blessed.
Prayer:
Loving Lord!
Thank You for Your Holy Spirit whom You have deposited within me as my Counsellor and guide and greatest friend. Help me to be pure in my thoughts, words and deeds so that I do not grieve the Holy Spirit. Listen to my prayers and answer me. Protect me and be my help. Watch over my life. Let me always please You in all that I do. In the sweet name of my Lord Jesus I pray, O Father, Amen.
