Pray boldly! – Dr. Paul Dhinakaran
“…fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” (James 5:16)
In the Bible, we read about how Elijah brought fire down from heaven through his prayers. Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years (James 5:17). Elijah had faith in the Lord. He prayed by the power of God’s Spirit that was within him. He too faced depression like us. He too felt scared when Jezebel was seeking to kill him. But still his prayers were effective because he was very intense in his faith. He boldly claimed for what was in God’s mind and prayed about it. Today, we too should find out God’s will before we pray. If we know what God desires we will have the boldness to pray about it. God’s will for you is to be healed, to be blessed and to abound in all kinds of good works.
When I was 20 years old, I had been to a house in America. Around that time, I had just experienced salvation and had received the anointing of the Holy Spirit. The people of that house invited me to accompany them to pray for a woman with cancer. So I went along with them. After singing a song, they announced, “Bro. Dhinakaran’s son, Paul Dhinakaran is with us here. He will now share the message and pray.” Hesitantly, I told them to sing one more song and prayed within myself, “Lord, if she is not healed by my prayers, it would bring shame to my father. So, please have mercy.” The Lord answered, “My dear son, You are first of all My son; I have cleansed you with My blood. Now, honour My blood and pray, anointing her with oil.” Immediately, I stood up as bold as a lion and preached the Word and prayed for her, anointing her with oil. When we concluded the prayer, the power of God came down upon her and she was thrown away from her cot. She stood up and started praising God saying, “I am healed; the cancer is gone. Thank you Jesus.” All of us rejoiced!
Are you going through a troublesome situation? Simply pray to God. If you are a son/daughter of God, you are a righteous person as well. The Bible says that the ‘prayer of a righteous avails much.’ (James 5:16). Enter boldly into His presence today, as a righteous person and present your requests to God. You are righteous by the exchange that happened at the cross. Jesus took our place on the cross and became sin so that we can become the righteousness of God. If God has made us the righteousness of God, how much more are we righteous in His sight. As God sees us hidden in Christ, whatever we ask knowing His will we will receive. We can ask for anything but if we know God’s will we can be sure of receiving what we ask for. Like Elijah, we can make bold prayers. You will surely see wonders and miracles.
Prayer:
Loving Father,
I thank You for making me Your child. Thank You for the atoning blood of Jesus that has made me righteous. In this righteous standing, I come before you for my needs to be met. I plead for Your divine intervention in my troubles. Deliver me from all my pain. Bless me and answer all my prayers. Let my prayers bring miracles in the lives of my loved ones and all people.
In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
