God’s Word brings peace! – Sis. Stella Dhinakaran
“Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.” (Psalm 119:165)
The way to have a peaceful life is by living according to God’s Word. We must have a zeal to read the Word of God and receive this divine experience. The Bible declares, “His Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” to rescue me from the path of darkness (Psalm 119:105). “We will have great peace because we love His word and nothing can cause us to stumble” (Psalm 119:165). God’s Word brings peace amidst disturbing circumstances. That is why the Psalmist says out of his experience saying, “This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life” (Psalm 119:50). Dearly beloved! See how much of knowledge concerning the commands of the Lord we should acquire in order to receive all these blessings in our life.
It is not possible for me to continue this without mentioning about the life of our dear brother Dhinakaran. He would get up early in the morning and read the Bible for many hours. Then, he would meditate on it to receive deep knowledge about it and retain it in his memory. He would make many cross-references relating to the verses and note down the truths in the Bible. At night times also, he would continue to read the Bible till he fell asleep. He had received the grace to retain all the verses he had to quote, in his memory, before his preaching assignments. Every time I tried to write down my sermon-points, he would say, “That is not the right method. You should learn to commit them to your memory and only then you should speak.” That is the reason why all the people were astonished when he began quoting verse after verse so effortlessly without any hitch, even while preaching.
Yes! How great it is to be united with the Lord in our life! Do we try to know and understand the Bible verses and the miraculous testimonies of the Lord? Let us receive the grace of God and get rid of our ignorance in the Word of God and receive the fullness of knowledge about Him. The disciples were caught in the storm and were perplexed about what might happen to them. They forgot that the Lord had said to them, let’s go across to the other side (Mark 4:35). If they had remembered God’s Word, they wouldn’t have been afraid for Jesus had given the word that they would reach the other shore. This is the same thing with us. If we remember God’s Word we will not fear our circumstances. We will know that God’s Word will stand and we will be at peace.
Prayer:
My loving Heavenly Father,
Grant me the grace to understand the wonders of Your testimonies from the Bible. In the same manner in which You won victory over the devil through the Scripture verses, help me also to remember Your Word and be victorious in my temptations. Let Your peace that comes through Your Word always abide in me.
In the name of our Lord Jesus I pray, O Father, Amen.
