God’s Word will fulfil! – Shilpa Dhinakaran
“so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11)
God speaks to us through many ways but most of the time He speaks to us through His written Word which is the Bible. Whatever way through which God speaks, the most important thing we should remember is that His Words will never fail. God teaches us about His word saying, “so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11). That is how reliable the Word of God is. Our words itself are recorded by God. According to what Jesus taught us, “But I tell you that men will give an account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned” (Matthew 12:36,37), God keeps track of all our words and will bring them into judgement one day. Can you believe this? We cannot escape by speaking meaningless and unedifying things. We have to be careful in our words. If this is how God values words can you imagine how precious are God’s words!
God speaks every word with power. The Bible teaches us that, “For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm” (Psalm 33:9). At the utterance of God’s Word everything came to be. Also we read in Psalm 138:2, “for you have exalted your Word above all your name”. God has exalted His Word above every name of His. Do you know who this Word of God who is exalted above everything? Yes, your guess is right. It is Jesus Christ Himself. John writes, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). Jesus was in the beginning as the Word of God. “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).
Jesus is the Word of God in flesh. God created everything through Jesus including us. We read, “For in him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28). Just as everything is held by Jesus, the Word of God, everything we need can also come into existence through Jesus. We should also know that every promise that is written in the Word of God which is the Bible is for us to claim and receive “for no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God” (2 Corinthians 1:20). Jesus died and rose again and fulfilled the law so that you can claim all of God’s promises. That is why He became flesh. Do you believe that? You are eligible to claim all of God’s promises. Whatever God has promised you will certainly come to pass. Even if it seems to take time, don’t lose hope. God’s Word will never fail or return empty. It will accomplish its purpose.
Prayer:
O Omnipotent God!
Help me to value Your Word above everything in my life. Your promises are life and hope to me. Thank You for promising me that all the promises in Your Word are mine to claim and receive. Thank You for saying ‘yes’ to every promise. Fulfil Your Words to me and exalt Your Word in my life. In Jesus’ precious name I pray, O Father, Amen.
