Be built on Jesus! – Sis. Stella Dhinakaran
“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” (Acts 16:31)
As quoted in the verse above, we should be filled by the power of God and be strong in faith in God and we should fulfil the will of God. The Bible speaks about those who do not make God their strength, in the following manner, “Here is the man who did not make God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches and strengthened himself in his wickedness” (Psalm 52:7). As we read all this, it becomes clear to us about why we should be filled by the power of God and also depend on it in our lives. We also read in the Bible, “He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure” (Isaiah 33:6). We should make God our sure foundation. We should depend on God for everything we need. Only such a life will be blessed. God should be our strength. God delights in those who delight in Him and His Word day and night (Psalm 1:2). Such a man is considered a blessed man in the eyes of God.
A young man was very bright in his studies. Thereafter, he also started to flourish gradually in the business he had started. He consulted many wise men and trusted in them. But he did not seek the ways of the Lord. At this juncture, he had to face a major crisis in his business and this made him lose many things. It was at this point, that he began to realize his mistake. Finally he understood that “However great a man’s status may be in this world, it is the power of the Lord that can lead him in the right way till the end”. Thereafter, he received divine counsel from a godly man who was filled by the power of God, who could pray for him faithfully and counsel him wisely. Blessings began to multiply in his life, gradually when he did this.
Yes! My dearly beloved! Do not long for earthly things but always depend on the power and wisdom of God. Do all things with reverence and receive His abundant blessings. We read in the Bible about two kinds of life. Jesus explains through a parable saying, “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” (Matthew 7:24-27). So we should build our lives on the word of God. If we do that, we will not be shaken by any storm.
Prayer:
O Omnipotent God!
Help me to understand this truth in my life. Grant me the grace to be filled with Your power. Through this, let me be blessed by Your divine wisdom and grace. Help me to meditate on Your Word day and night and walk in Your power and strength. Be my sure foundation. Let my life be built on You.
In Jesus’ precious name I pray, O Father, Amen.
