Brimming Blessings! – Dr. Paul Dhinakaran
“God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.” (Genesis 50: 20)
We have read about great kings of the past – both good and bad in the history of Israel. This creates an impression that only kings, generals and wealthy people change the course of history. Is it not? Yes. But the Bible also talks about ordinary midwives who were used by God to change the course of history! When the king of Egypt grew worried about the increasing numbers of Hebrew slaves, he summoned the two midwives, Shiphrah and Puah, and instructed them to murder all the male newborns of the Israelites. But, the decision made by these midwives, who were of insignificant social standing, really amazes me. They refused to obey the king’s command. So, the women of Israel continued to deliver healthy male babies. Their risky decision saved the life of baby Moses, who became Israel’s God-ordained deliverer.
God saw the groaning of the Israelites and was preparing a deliverer to be born and preserved him to fulfil God’s purpose. God still does everything with a purpose, His decisions are perfect. All you need to do is to ask God to fulfil His purpose in your life as described by the psalmist, “The Lord will fulfil his purpose for me” (Psalm 138:8). “As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him” (Psalm 18:30). The Lord does everything perfectly. May be you have many flaws but you have to believe the truth that in God’s eyes you are perfect. He has put you in the right place with the people to accomplish what He wants you to. Nobody else can do what you alone can do.
My friend, do not consider yourself insignificant no matter what your qualification is or the work that you do. In God’s hands, you are His instrument to shape this world. It is not always the people in higher positions in the society who can change history. Simpletons too can change history when they obey God’s voice. You too can make a history. ‘You are in the right place to bless someone’. “But the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits” (Daniel 11:32). Yes, God has called you to be strong and do great things for God. William Carey who accomplished much for God’s kingdom in India always says, “Expect great things from God. Attempt great things for God”. That should be our lives as well dear friend. We should be bold. We read that “Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man” (Luke 2:52). That blessing is ours as well. Claim it in your prayers. You too will be blessed with wisdom, in stature and in favour with God and man so that you can achieve great feats for God. May you boldly attempt great things for God from now on.
Prayer:
Loving Father,
I regret for never valuing myself in Your sight. I thank You for my education, position and all that I have. May all of them be used for Your glory. Help me build Your kingdom through my words, actions and thoughts. May others be blessed through me. Bless me with wisdom, good stature and favour with You and men so that I can achieve great things for You.
This I ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.
