Abounding always in all ways! – Samuel Dhinakaran
“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:8)
God promises to bless you abundantly in four ways in today’s promise. Firstly, God says, He will bless you with all things. It means God will bless you with all things that you should have to enjoy abundant life. Jesus says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). The blessing of the Lord will make sure that you lack no good thing (Psalm 34:10) as you seek Him. Secondly, God will bless you at all times. God doesn’t have mood swings unlike us. He is the unchanging source of goodness. He does good all the time. He has no interest in afflicting His children. We are under the covenant of grace and God knows our weaknesses. He intercedes for us through the Holy Spirit expressing our needs through wordless groans (Romans 8:26). God makes His blessing available to us at all times. He comes to our rescue when we become weak and strengthens us so that we never miss out His presence.
Thirdly, God blesses us with all that we need. He will provide all your needs according to His glorious riches (Philippians 4:19). He wants you to prosper in all things even as your soul is getting along well (3 John 1:2). He wants your financial prosperity as well. He wants you to be above and never below (Deuteronomy 28:13). Lastly, God wants you to abound in all good works He has prepared for you to do. We see that when the Lord was on the earth, He went around doing good (Acts 10:38). He also says about our heavenly Father saying, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working” (John 5:17). Jesus is still living and He is still performing miracles, providing us all kinds of blessing and even healing us. So He wants us also be like Him working all the time for the good of others. That is why Paul instructs us saying, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9).
I would like to share a story with you about why God blesses us in these four ways. Once there was a farmer and as he was in the field, one day, he heard the sound of someone crying for help. He ran to find who it was and found that it was a small boy caught in quicksand. He helped the boy and the boy brought his parents to the farmer to thank him. The boy’s father was a rich man and offered money which the farmer refused to take. So the man said, “you saved my son so let me make your son study well in a prestigious institution so that he can be a blessing like you.” The farmer agreed and that boy grew up to be Sir Alexander Fleming the discoverer of Penicillin. Years later when the nobleman’s son was stricken with pneumonia, Penicillin discovered by the farmer’s son saved his life. The nobleman was Lord Randolph Churchill and his son was Sir Winston Churchill, who was the Prime Minister of UK. God wants you to be blessed so that you can be a blessing.
Prayer:
Loving Lord,
I want to be blessed in all things, at all times, in all ways so that I abound in all the good works You want me to do. I want to be a blessing to others so bless me with everything I need so that I will not be in want but be a person who gives generously to others.
In Jesus loving name I pray,
AMEN.
