Put your hope on God’s help! – Sis. Stella Dhinakaran
“Blessed are those, whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God.” (Psalm 146:5)
“If God is for us who can be against us?” says Romans 8:31 in the Bible. Daniel was a young man who trusted God with all his heart. He prayed to God at all times. Because of this, he had to face many afflictions, but the Lord, delivered him from them all (Psalm 34:19). Dear friends, today many people may be around you to help you. You may feel contented and satisfied because your parents, relatives and friends are with you to help and defend you. But, you should know that men are mere mortals who are alive today and dead tomorrow. Their love is short lived! So, like Daniel, you also pray, “Lord, You be with me and lead me”. He will surely help you and comfort you (Psalm 86:17).
A young man was very close with his friends and happily spent his time with them. Daily, his mother told him, “Don’t be contented by depending on your friends only. Trust your God always and depend on Him only.” But, he thought in his mind that his mother was insane and abnormal. One day, he went into the sea to play and swim without the permission of his parents. While inside the waters, his friends just went away from his sight. He was not an expert swimmer in deep waters. As he was struggling to swim, he called out his friends for help. But, just for fun, they hid themselves. As he tried to keep afloat, he remembered his mother’s advice, “Son! Seek the Lord who is your help always.” This advice began to ring again and again in his ears. Finally, he cried out to God. The compassionate God heard his prayers and safely brought him to the shore. He learnt a good lesson on that day.
Just as it is in the story, life may take turns that might leave us helpless. A sickness or a crisis makes us realise that nobody can help us other than God himself. The Bible clearly says “Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God” (Psalm 146:5). Those who trust in God for His help will always find Him dividing the Red Sea, saving them from devouring lions and making them come out of fire even without the smell of fire on them. That is how God saves. He says that not even the hair of our heads will be harmed (Luke 21:18). So do not fear. May be you are going through fire and high waters that seem to scorch you and drown you but do not give in to your fears. When God promises to help you nothing can harm you. Just call out to Him and He will surely run to you to save you.
Prayer:
Loving Saviour,
Thank You for You are truly a Saviour and a God who comes to help Your children. Lord, please help me. You know my needs and if not for You nobody can help me. I trust in Your ability to save me. Give me wisdom and lead me according to Your will. Thank you for no harm will befall me and no disaster will come near my tent according to Your promise. I surrender myself into Your hands.
I ask this in Your name Lord Jesus,
Amen.
