Beautiful blessings from Zion – Shilpa Dhinakaran

“The Lord bless you out of Zion, And may you see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life.” (Psalms 128:5)
Dear friends, the Lord promises to bless you from Zion today. God will bless you in all aspects of your life whether it is your work, business, studies or your relationships. Zion is the place where God abides. Most of us desire to visit different places like hill stations and see the scenic beauty there. Climbing mountains might be a terrifying experience but the view from there is usually too beautiful. Zion is the Holy hill of the Lord. If worldly destinations can amaze us how much more beautiful will Zion be. So the blessings that come from Zion will also be beautiful. All we need to do to receive those beautiful blessings is to look up to God and keep moving ahead giving Him our reverence.

Once there was a mountain climber who wanted to climb the tallest snowy mountain in his country. He had tried almost thirty times but he had always failed. He began the ascent with a good pace but as he went on and his strength dwindled he would soon give up on his venture and return back to the village. On one of the occasions he went up accompanied by the town optician who presented him with a pair of special sunglasses. The climber received it with thanks and started climbing the mountain wearing it. His strength reduced but with those new sunglasses he could still manage to see the snow-covered summit; so he continued and finally arrived at the summit. When he looked down he saw dense clouds which he had not seen while climbing up, so he looked more closely at the sunglasses, and understood that the optician had engraved a light image on the lenses, in the form of the snow-covered summit. It was made in such a way that you could only see it if you looked upwards. The climber realised that the only obstacle that hindered him during his previous attempts were his own discouragement which had been understood by the optician and his little trick motivated him to keep climbing with the summit in his view all the time. Yes, my dear friends, we too must keep looking to the Lord’s Holy hill for motivation and direction and keep going forward to receive the beautiful blessings He has promised to give us right from His place of residence.

The Psalmist says “I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken” (Psalm 16:8). In the Old Testament we also see that Noah lived a righteous life by following God’s directions. When God told him to build an ark, though he did not understand why he needs to do it as they had never seen a flood in their entire life, Noah obediently built the ark. As a result God blessed him and protected him as well as his entire family. He was not shaken by the disaster. Yes, when we fix our eyes on God and follow His Words, we too will not be shaken and instead receive God’s beautiful blessings from Zion. Let the Lord be your motivation and allow Him to be your source of direction. God will surely bless you in all that you do with beautiful blessings all the days of your life.

Prayer:
Loving Father,

You are enthroned in the most beautiful Zion and You promise to bless me from there. What a blessed assurance that is, my God. May Your beautiful blessings which abide in Your Holy hill abide with me. I long for You and I look up to Your holy hill. Fill me with Your blessed presence and lead me to obediently follow You. Help me to enjoy Your beautiful blessings all the days of my life.
