Power of the Holy Spirit – Samuel Dhinakaran
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
God always loves a faithful person and hence it is necessary for us to be devoted to Him in all respects. For this purpose, God gave us His Holy Spirit that we may walk in righteousness and be faithful in all that we do. When we invite the Lord Jesus into our heart, He comes in through His Holy Spirit. Then when we pray for the anointing of the Holy Spirit, God sends His Spirit full of power like how He sent it on the disciples on the day of pentecost. By receiving His Holy Spirit we also become a blessing to everyone around us and to our Nation.
There was a young lady, an illiterate who was suffering due to several problems. She faced poverty and was left helpless. Her family was governed by misfortunes and conflicts. Every day was a hell for her. Once, she took part in a meeting where my dad delivered God’s word. She sat there with countless questions striking her thought, worried about her future and the unchanging situations. However, she earnestly prayed to God to bring a change in her life and to lift her up from the miry clay. When my dad prayed, she was filled with the Holy Spirit and she was jumping with joy. She could not contain the anointing of the Holy Spirit and started to jump and roll on the floor. She was filled with happiness and joy. She felt immense peace in her heart right at that moment.
As in Acts 1:8, “But You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth,” God will make us a witness through the boldness He fills us with. Before the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit they were filled with fear and locked up in the upper room. But after they received the Holy Spirit, they were filled with power and they testified boldy to thousands coming out of their locked doors. Do you want to boldly share the love of God to people? Ask God for His anointing. He says, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Luke 11:13). So ask with faith and you will receive His Spirit without measure.
Prayer:
Loving Saviour,
Come in to me and fill me with Your Spirit. Anoint me with Your Holy Spirit so that I too will be a powerful witness for You wherever I go. Let me increase in my knowledge of You so that I can share about You with others. Fill me with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Help me to be faithful to You in everything I do. Lead me through Your Spirit in righteous ways.
In Your name I pray,
Amen.
