Greatest love of all time – Bro. D.G.S Dhinakaran

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13)
Our Lord Jesus loves us unconditionally that He wants us to realize that He loves us more than anybody in this world.  He loves us as a friend!  He calls His disciples as His friends (John 15:15).   King Solomon writes in Proverbs 17:17 that “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.” In the same book, King Solomon says “but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24), and that friend, my beloved children of God, it is Jesus Christ! A true friend will love you at all times be it good times or bad times. Yes, a true friend will stick closer supporting you at all times. But the love of Jesus is so great because He gave His life for us.

Not too long ago, I was very ill and was admitted in the hospital. The Doctors battled with my life and required eighteen bottles of Blood, as my condition was worsening. The moment the doctors announced that I needed eighteen bottles of blood, there were several people coming forward to donate their blood. Students, policemen, businessmen and the doctors themselves, all came forward to donate blood with great concern. A medical student was even ready to lend his organs for me, saying: “let me die and let my brother live!”.  That is the kind of love a friend would possess.  It is Jesus who plants this seed of love in the hearts of His children.  A young volunteer enquired if the doctors could draw blood from the other hand too. These people are not even related to me but still, they wanted to save me from my death bed. It is the Love of Christ that compelled them to do so, my dear friends. The love of Jesus is so strong that you will be ready to sacrifice yourself for Him. You are His friend and He loves to have fellowship with you.

You might have seen the love of God through your friends but the love of the true friend Jesus is incomparable. He took your place at the cross and gave himself to be tortured so that you might be safe and well. He carried all our sins in his body and received the punishment of God. What a great love that is! Even now, his love for you has not decreased. If you take a step toward him, he will run to you with outstretched arms.

Prayer:
My loving Lord Jesus,

You are my truly my true friend. I thank You for Your wonderful and incomparable love for me which You showed me at the cross. Help me to stick closer to You more than I am closer to anyone else. Take the first and foremost place in my heart and help me to be ready to sacrifice myself for Your service.
